Dinah

Of Hebrew origin.

From Hebrew דִּינָה (dīna), meaning “judged”.

According to the Old Testament, Dinah was Jacob’s and Leah’s daughter.

Alternative forms of the name are Dina, Dyna, Dine.

Famous bearers are Dinah Washington (born Ruth Lee Jones), Dinah Shore, Dinah Sheridan, Dinah Christie, Dinah Pfizenmaier, Dinah Jane, Dinah Manoff.

Dinah Washington was a jazz singer and pianist.

She had a districting singing style. Many of the R&B and jazz singers of our time are hugely influenced by Washington.
