Both words are originally Latin: “grand” from “grandis”, meaning “large”, “great”, and “merci” from “mercēs”, meaning “wages”, “reward”.

Gramercy or Gramercy Park is a small private park, located in Manhattan, New York. The neighborhood is also called Gramercy.

Gramercy is also a small town in Louisiana, U.S.A.
