Wilbur

Of English origin.

Derives from the name “Wildbor”, which was a nickname, meaning wild boar.

Sources often confuse it with the name Wilburh or Wilburg, giving a different and mistaken meaning to the name Wilbur.

Famous bearers are Wilbur Wright, Wilbur Fitzgerald, Wilbur Evans.

Wilbur Wright was one of the Wright brothers, the two innovators who developed the world’s first airplane that flew successfully.

Along with his brother, Orville, they are regarded as the “fathers of modern aviation”.
